Halo Board 2nd Edition Review

Choosing to make the body of the Halo Board 2nd Edition out of T700 Carbon Fiber was a fantastic decision on Halo's part. It not only looks super cool in its stealthy black excellence, but it's also incredibly durable and can withstand some serious use and abuse as you ride this board.

Other boards in this category are typically made with wood and feature heavy battery packs. The Halo Board 2nd Edition is one of the lightest we've ever tried at only 14 pounds. It's definitely weightless, but compared to others, I wouldn’t have a problem carrying this board around with me.

The addition of a carrying handle into the deck of the Halo Board 2nd Edition is also a great feature, and make the entire board incredibly portable. If you're looking for a board that is super easy to move from place to place, this is the one for you.

Whether you want to blend in or orange wheels just aren't your thing, the Halo Board 2nd Edition is probably the best-looking skateboard in the category. Everything is blacked out, from the deck to the trucks to the wheels, to the remote control. All of the electronics are carefully hidden away, creating a sleek profile.

When you ride the Halo Board 2nd Edition, you have 3000 watts of power at your disposal. This is definitely one of the fastest electric longboards we've tried with a max speed of 22 mph. The best part is that it won't toss you off the board when you accelerate and reached your desired speed smoothly.

There are also two speed modes for users. One is a little slower and is excellent for beginners or whenever you need to slow it down to weave through people. The second mode is when you just need to haul butt and get where you need to go fast.

This is a super cool feature that I'm glad Halo included. Regenerative braking will actually charge your battery pack back up as you brake. The brakes are also super silent and responsive. They're also incredibly strong, so if you're bombing down a hill and need to stop smoothly, you can with the Halo Board 2nd Edition.

There are other safety features on board the Halo Board 2nd Edition, most notably the Firesafe battery. This feature is a big one. When you're out and about, the last thing that you want to worry about is your battery pack exploding. While this feature is relatively standard in most electronics these days, it's still good to know that Halo considers this a priority for its customers. They use only Certified LG Firesafe Batteries in each model, promising a safe and reliable ride each time.

Since many people use electric skateboards as a means of transportation, you probably want to know how far you can go on just a single charge. According to the Halo website, they rate the Halo Board 2's max range at 12 miles. Not too bad, and that's above the industry standard.

One thing that I found super impressive is that the Halo Board 2nd Edition can climb hills up to a grade of 25%. That might not seem like a lot, but that's a steep enough grade to scare most semi-truck drivers. With the fast max speed, you should be able to fly up hills without any issue.

Let's talk about some high-tech features for a second. The Halo Board features a Torque Management acceleration algorithm. This feature is what makes sure that your board never flies out from under your feet. It also ensures that your speed remains constant and keeps the ride much smoother. Not many electric skateboard manufacturers go this far with the technology in their boards, so this is a great feature.

If there's one thing that I hate about other electric skateboards on the market, it's that they are too noisy. Sometimes I want to cruise in silence without having to listen to a constant buzz and whir from the motors.

The Halo Board 2nd Edition eliminates this problem, and the in-wheel motors are dead quiet. I was amazed that they were able to create motors that were really this silent and I don't think any other board on the market can compete with the noise levels of these motors.

The final thing that we need to talk about is the remote control. They've made some upgrades since the last model, and this might be the most advanced remote control for an electric skateboard I’ve ever seen.

While others are a simple trigger design, this one actually features a digital display that will show you the battery level of the board, signal strength, and the battery life of the remote. The accelerating stick is super responsive, and the entire remote is ergonomic and comfortable to hold.
